I've probably said this a thousand times, I'M BACK! In reality I haven't been anywhere. I've actually been stuck in my head that's filled with uncertainty, doubt and just a dash of jealously. Let me be real, A LOT OF JEALOUSLY.

Everyone has these feelings and don't let anyone tell you it's not okay. Having these feelings for me is a sense of growth, it allows me to look at things differently and overcome the obstacle of fear.  Some days I feel like this journey of empowering others is a waste of time. Yet, I have to remind myself the reason why I started in the beginning.

Yes, you will get sidetracked.

Yes, your message will get misunderstood no matter how clear you are about it.

Yes, you will feel like giving up.

Yes, you will get jealous of others who YOU think are doing it better!

 Yes, you will make mistakes, how you recover is KEY!

Yes, you will have sleepless nights.

Yes, you will feel overwhelmed but It's all going to be OKAY!

It's okay to feel this way. I haven't met a single person who hasn't experience these feelings. I'm sure Oprah, Issa Rae and Ava Duvernay all had feelings of fear and self doubt but they continue on to become successful in their craft in a world where people feel black women are less than. 

If you ever find yourself feeling uncertain about things It's OKAY, you'll get back on track in no time.

FIRST IMPRESSSION: FLESH ART BEAUTY OG COFFEE SCRUB

I am hesitant to try new things. My motto: " If what you're doing is working fine, why change it." Recently I attended a party and received a gift bag filled with goodies.  I was excited about some of the products I received.  One of the products was the Flesh Art Beauty OG Coffee Scrub and I am a coffee lover. I did research and found a few interesting facts about the benefits of coffee as an exfoliant. 

1. Reduces inflammation and packed with lots of antioxidants

Coffee is rich in polyphenols, that are found in foods such as chocolate, berries and wine. It slows down the aging process and helps soothe those pesky breakout. 

2. Protects your skins

It's a great exfoliant that protects your skin, gives your skin of boost of energy that  provides a natural glow

3. Brightens skin

Not only does coffee provide a natural glow, it also helps with restoring your skin and diminishing discoloration. 

4. Reduces puffiness and dark circles

The caffeine helps reduce under-eye puffiness by restricting blood flow to the area and reducing swelling.

My Thoughts on using Flesh Art Beauty OG Coffee Scrub

The contents of the product was stored in a cute dark zipped sealed packet with the company logo and ingredients. 

Ingredients (All Natural) -Almond Oil, Coconut Oil, Coconut Sugar and Organic Ethiopian Coffee grounds. Immediately after opening the packet the aroma of the coffee will mesmerize your senses. Applying the the scrub was a little tricky, the content was slightly moist from the oils but not enough to rub into my skin without making a huge mess.  I was able to apply to my skin after applying a very small amount of almond oil to the mixture. I scrubbed my face in circular motions for about 2-3 minutes before rinsing off, afterwards my skin felt extremely moisturized and soft. 

I definitely recommend this product for anyone who loves a great scrub.  The cost is $15 for a travel size (3oz) or $26 (6oz). I wish there was more information about the product and company. You can visit there website to purchase.

MY NEW TAPERED CUT!

I cut my hair a month ago and to some people it may not seem like I cut a lot off but I did!

I had always wanted to cut my hair but I didn't have a clue on how short I wanted to go. After my father passed in August and dealing with the aftermath. I knew the exact style I wanted to achieved. I did not want to go super short but I wanted my hair short enough to do twist outs, coils, and wash-n-go's.  

It was on a Tuesday night, as I stared in the mirror with scissors in my hand I begin to cut 3 - 4 inches of my hair off with no regrets. I did not utter a sound and with each snip I felt a huge burden lifted. It was all the dead weight my hair was carrying- split ends, no trims, dryness, neglect and so much more. I remember my mom screaming "What are you doing?" which motivated me even more to keep cutting. 

After I achieved the desired look, washed, conditioned and styled my hair. I remember looking in the mirror feeling confident, sexy and motivated to conquer the world. It felt like my hair was stopping me from my full potential. I know that may sound weird but it's my truth.  I have been on a rollercoaster ride taking photos and wearing more make-up. I feel more like myself more than ever and I am so in love with my hair. 

I've been able to achieve long lasting twist outs and coils with minimal frizz. Getting ready in the morning has been so easy. Here are a few pictures of my new cut.

MY FAVORITES: AFFORDABLE SKIN CARE

I suffer from cystic acne and it's has been a major pain in my life. I can't remember the last time I've had clear skin. Unlike some people who suffer from acne this particular type of skin disorder is literally painful. I normally have outbreaks on my temples and jawline. Instead of having small pimples, I've developed large reddish bumps filled with pus. You have to be careful not to aggravate them which can cause more breakouts and scaring. I have several scars from trying to pop them before it's time. 

I have tried everything from prescription medication to high-end acne treatments. None of the products I used worked as well as I liked. I have combination skin. Some products can slightly clear my skin and cause severe dryness or make my skin appear oily. Each time I try new products, I use them for 6 months to see real results. I have also changed my diet and cut out greasy foods and sodas.

A few months ago I tried the Dead Sea products which at first I was a little skeptical. A friend of mine raved about this product and urge me to try it. After researching and reading the ingredients I noticed there wasn't any harsh chemicals. Guess what? 

It was the best decision I've ever made and the cost did not break the bank. Pictured below is a before and after shots.

After using this product I wasn't expecting a miracle but I know it help combat the areas where I had the wosrt breakouts. After cleansing my skin using the Epielle Pore Cleanser with Baking Soda found at my local Big Lots.  I would apply the Dead SeaRetinol Anti-Wrinkle Serum and gentle massage into my skin in a circular motion. On alternate days usually 3 times a week I would apply the Dead Sea Collagen Anti-Wrinkle Serum.

Retinol is a vitamin A that unclogs pores, boost collagen to reduce fine lines, and speed cell turnover to even out discoloration and smooth the skin.

Collagen helps increase skin's moisture level while it helps smooth and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I use to think using a retinol was for older people since I am only 37, however; it was the good and necessary choice I made to aid with clearing my skin, I have notice a change since using thes products. I have a rough area on my skin that is smoothing out day by day.

As a moisturizer I apply the Retinol Anti-Oxidant Strengthening Body oil which promotes soft skin and reduces skin irritations significantly. I have notice minimal breakouts occasionally I will get a few blackheads. They also have a facial mud mask I used twice a week and a body scrub that leaves your skin extremely moisturized you will not need to apply any lotion. 

Overall, I am extremely happy I took my friend's advice and all the products mention cost less than $5 each.

ISSA VISION BOARD PARTY!

Recently I attended a Vision Board Party hosted by rising YouTube starlets Danny Jae and Latoya-K. It's been a while since I created a vision board and normally in the past I've created vision/sketch journals of things I want to obtain. Creating vision boards or journals is a great way to set goals and keep on track. I know a lot of women who create vision boards and it's not a new trend as many would like to think. 

This gathering was very special to me which allowed the opportunity to meet other talented Atlanta YouTubers who are women to come together for evening of fun. We discussed things from our favorite Youtubers, goals, fashion and so much more. These ladies are so talented and amazing, we even had a little mini editing session with Sillene.  Take a look at all the fun and excitement.

Missouri NAACP Issues Travel Ban Advisory for Black People

If you weren't aware consider this as your notification.  Missouri recently passed a legislation to make it impossible to sue for housing and employment discrimination. According to The Associated Press, the new law is slated to take effect Aug. 28. It will require people suing for discrimination to prove that a protected class such as race, gender, age or ability was "the motivating factor" for disciplinary action from an employer. Under current law, employees must only prove that their protected class contributed to an employer's decision to fire, discipline or refuse to hire them.

Apparently Missouri was one the easiest places to sue a company and win. 38  other states have laws in place to protect the "so-called" businesses against discrimination. Proving discrimination is hard, however; it occurs on a daily basis. It's even worst that innocent kids are being targets. Companies will find loop holes to finagle themselves out to keep form losing millions.

When statistics shows 75 percent of black drivers are likely to be pulled over than whites drivers becomes a larger issue that the governor seems to be sweeping under the rug. With the recent rise in police brutality the situation in Missouri will only get worst. I found it disturbing when the NAACP had to issue a travel ban because the legislation is a infringement upon your civil rights.  According to CNN, the NAACP urges individuals to "warn your families, co-workers and anyone visiting Missouri to beware of the safety concerns with travel in Missouri." These concerns, the organization writes, could include unnecessary search and seizures and potential arrest.

MY FAVORITES: 5 REASONS YOU SHOULD TRY THE MANE CHOICE

After trying several hair care products for a long period of time (90 days) and feeling cheated. I was a little skeptical about trying a new product but I am glad I choose The Mane Choice. My hair texture is type 4, very tightly coiled.  NOT EVERY product on the market is suitable for the kinky, coily girl, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE ladies! I'm sure you have experience the heartbreak of spending your hard earned coins on a product that doesn't work no matter what you tried. 

I attended the World Natural Hair show in April, where everyone were passing out samples and conducting demonstrations on how to use their products. My focus was finding The Mane Choice booth were I could speak with one of the brand ambassadors. I wish I could remember the lovely female's name who was able explain and show a few products that would work for my hair texture.

During the summer months I like to wear wash-n-go's and I needed a clarifying shampoo and conditioner that would not leave my hair dry and brittle. Retaining moisture and manageability was a major plus in my decision making. I was shown two products:

Detangling Hydration Shampoo and 3-in-1 Revitalize and Refresh Conditioner

I have not tried their styling products and will purchase them soon to try and share my thoughts. Let's get into the reasons why I feel in love with this brand.

1. The price point for this product is budget-friendly unlike some brands I've paid over $18. The Shampoo retails for $13 and Conditioner retail for $14. The products can be found in most major retailers such as Sally's, Wal-Mart and Target.  
2. A little goes a long way. The shampoo had a rich lather and I did not feel like my hair was being stripped, no product build up.  
3. The conditioner dissolved into my strands like butter making the detangling process (lack off) easier.
4. The product does exactly what it says: instant hydration, manageability, minimum (none) breakage and moisture. 
5. The best part is the product promotes growth and retention.

If you read my previous post about my favorite foundation then you know why Revlon ColorStay is one of my staple product to use. I love good, quality and affordable products that will not leave me second guessing myself. If you are a girl who is on a budget and want a simple everyday look that will not break the bank. Take a look a few of my favorite budget friendly product I absolutely love and why.

I have oily skin and this foundation does exactly what it claims.

I am a huge fan of the Queen Collection and I was extremely excited when the line expanded. I need everything to be matte including the pressed powder. I had seen many good reviews I had to try it and fell in love.

• Controls oily shine
• Wear alone or over liquid foundation

4. Maybelline FaceStudio Master Fix Setting & Perfecting Loose Powder

Finding a translucent setting powder that is REALLY translucent is like a needle in a haystack. When Maybelline launched new products last year, I had to give their setting powder a try and when I did, it worked perfected.

• The powder is really, really, really thin
• It's really TRANSLUCENT!
• Mattifies and sets well with liquid foundation providing an airbrush effect.

5. Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara

 I have natural long lashes and I refuse to wear false lashes due to fear of losing them. (Yep, I don't play around) I do love a good mascara that will help me fake the funk and enhance my eyes. This is one my favorite mascara that will give you that dramatic "come over here" look. 

• Waterproof
• Easy to remove
• Dries fast when applied
• No need to apply multiple coats
